We love bringing our readers helpful posts. We have already talked about setting up the Montessori infant home and the Montessori toddler home. Let’s talk about how things change when you start your Montessori Inspired setup for preschool.
How a Montessori 3-6 Home is Different
A child in the 3-6 age range has an amazing ability to concentrate. As Montessori parents and teachers, we want to create an environment to help foster that concentration. A place to demonstrate respect for time and space.
We model respect continually in our home. It is one of the main ways we maintain discipline in our home. 3-6 year old children want to be challenged. To challenge them, you can create an affordable Montessori inspired environment.
Here are a couple posts that may give you some background on your preschooler: Montessori for Ages 3-6- Sensitive Periods, Montessori Primary Guide, and Montessori.edu FAQs.
We would be glad to talk more about all of our setup techniques in our CMN Facebook group. We look forward to meeting you there.
Giving Montessori Lessons
There are several great curriculum out there. Montessori for the Earth is a great, affordable program all of the admins are familiar with and recommend. If you have more questions you are welcome to ask in our CMN Facebook Group and tag Marie.
Book Keeping
Just Montessori on Teachers Pay Teachers has a free download to help you keep track of your Montessori 3-6 work. Record keeping is essential to any Montessori Classroom and extremely helpful in your Montessori Inspired homeschool.
Trillium Montessori has a great post on record keeping. Seemi is an EXTREMELY organized Montessorian and we all glean a lot from her example.
Materials
Once your little one has moved into the Children’s house, as they call it in Montessori schools, there will be specific materials that will help you along your Montessori journey. Some of the price tags can give you sticker shock so many Montessori Inspired parents find it helpful to use materials that are less expensive but give the same lesson.
Making materials is a lot of fun. Here is a great list of DIY Montessori Materials:
From The Natural Homeschool- Continent Studies with Preschoolers, Around the World and Landmarks, and Montessori Math: Addition
From The Pinay Homeschooler – Homemade Grammar Symbols, The Clock, and Counting to 100
From Child Led Life – Skeleton Preschool Activities and DIY Math Peg Boards
Montessori Mischief- Make Your Own Montessori Albums, DIY Color Beads, and Montessori Sensorial Activities
From Living Montessori Now- HUGE list of DIY Materials
Montessori En Casa on Racheous – DIY Montessori Materials
I could go on for days to share with you individual projects, but I thought these Pinterest boards would help you get more ideas.

I am so happy to have found your site! My daughter is currently in her 3rd year in Children’s House and will stay in her Montessori for one more year before we move to Kenya. I’ll be homeschooling at that time and am needing resources for continuing Montessori education and starting it for my 2 year old son who has Down syndrome. Thank you for these resources!
